On April 16th, the Supreme Court in the UK ruled a new definition of a woman.
The Supreme Court ruled that in the Equality Act 2010 (the Act), 'sex' means biological sex. This means that, under the Act: A 'woman' is a biological woman or girl (a person born female) A 'man' is a biological man or boy (a person born male) - Equality Human Rights 2025
Many cities and counties got together to peacefully protest this ruling. On April 21st, crowds gathered around the Aneurin Bevan statue on Queen Street, Cardiff. We heard from many speakers and agreed as a community that this protest was to be peaceful. The march was lead by those with accessibility needs who kept the pace from Queen Street over to Central Train Station.

The march was supported by a few different charities around Cardiff but one in particular was Trans Aid Cymru.
Trans Aid Cymru aims to help Transgender, Non-Binary and Intersex (TIN) people through mutual aid support. The project is run by TIN people for TIN people, making it inclusive and understanding of the community needs.
They were founded by a group of transgender and non-binary folk, and have formed a mutual aid to support others in Wales.
Whether you are trans, intersex or non-binary person or an ally, there are ways to get involved. You can email them at hello@transaid.cymru or reach out on Twitter or Instagram.
