MOLETRAP return with explosive new single, ‘Chickens’
Mid Wales & Bristol based Alternative Rock band MOLETRAP return with an energetic new release, 'Chickens' is out now and available on streaming platforms. Taken from their forthcoming new EP, 'Mid Welsh Pt. 2'
'Chickens' is us rallying against the commodification of our home, Mid Wales.Writing it allowed us to be nostalgic about our teenage years playing music together while expressing the creeping capitalist takeover of Mid Wales that we all increasingly feel.
The lyrics are reflections on fishing with our dads in the local reservoirs, interspersed with sloganeering, explorations of protest, and local folklore of said lakes as portals of the Tylwyth Teg, or fairy-folk, to their untouched paradise gardens.
There are many iconic red murals in Wales honouring places and communities lost to projects deemed essential by Westminster or capitalists - maybe soon we'll be painting a new one - 'Cofiwch Canol Cymru'.
MOLETRAP, describe their music as a unique blend of melodic pop and thundering guitars with a dynamic, heavy sound. Their singles, such as "Rhagofn" and "Middle of the Land", are praised for powerful vocals, crunchy grooves, and lyrics steeped in Welsh heritage and the resilience of Mid Wales.
