Clumsy Cabaret showcases queer and neurodivergent talent

Serendipity, burlesque performer, getting ready in the mirror.

Clumsy Cabaret is a regular burlesque and cabaret night in Cardiff, which aims to showcase neurodivergent and disabled performers. Their objective is to make performance opportunities accessible to everyone.

The team have put together many different themed shows; Star Wars, Halloween, Superheroes, etc. They have performed in venues such as Fuel Rock Bar, Porter’s Theatre and the Wales Millennium Centre’s Cabaret Bar.

Allowing both amateur and experienced performers a safe space to create and share their skills is how we make the neurodivergent community more visible and accepted. Produced by Lauren/Destiny La Roja, this small cabaret company needs support just like every other local show at the moment.

We’ve seen a drop in ticket sales but a rise in sales on the door. Audiences may not be aware that the lack of ticket sales up front make it difficult for the show to stay scheduled in their calendars. A lot of effort goes into booking acts, lighting, technical support, content creation, etc, and then the anxiety of wondering if you’ll get people to actually show up.
