★★★★★

From Pembrokeshire, South Wales, Twpsyn continue to make their mark with ‘Hit The Ground Running’; a track that feels both locked-in and laid-back. The single builds toward a momentum; a restless groove that lives up to its title. It’s fun, it’s meaningful, and it gives us exactly what we’re looking for from this band.

The song comes together around a tight, choppy guitar rhythm that gives an instant foot-tapping feel. There’s an energy backed by the surfy, psychedelic sounds in there too, adding colour to Twpsyn’s garage rock style, giving a feel of a building momentum that pays off all throughout.

Lyrically, ‘Hit The Ground Running’ reveals a delicate core. Beneath the swagger lies a thoughtful message on vulnerability and the difficulty many men face when opening up. Twpsyn avoid heavy-handedness, allowing the message to appear gradually through an almost conversational vocal delivery and a sense of emotional honesty. As the lyrics remind us, “it’s so easy to run and hide”, but don’t…stay, listen, talk.

Their lyrics recognise the mental health ruts people can fall into - “You’ve said it a hundred times now, gonna find that open door” - the band’s response is simple … talk about it. That’s the beginning.

The release is highlighted with genuine purpose. All profits from vinyl and streaming sales will be donated to Get The Boys a Lift; a Pembrokeshire organisation providing free counselling to support mental health through coffee, counselling, and outreach. It is a fitting partnership for a song that pushes for emotional honesty and reaching out. Twpsyn encourage with, “why don’t we talk about it now?” A beautifully uncomplicated way to start an important conversation with someone who needs it.

Overall, Twpsyn have delivered another confident step in their sound, and it is clear that they know what they’re about. Hit The Ground Running keeps the band’s original energy whilst showing a passionate sense of direction and identity, paired with an important message. There’s confidence in their sound, and it makes listening incredibly easy.
