South Summit share new single ‘On The Dash’

West Australian five-piece South Summit announce their second album ‘Run It Back, arriving June 12th, alongside new single ‘On The Dash’ released February 25th. The record follows the band’s 2024 debut ‘The Bliss, which debuted at #2 on the ARIA Albums Chart and established the group as one of Australia’s fastest-rising young acts.

Formed in 2020 in Perth, South Summit have grown a dedicated audience across streaming platforms and live shows, selling out headline runs across Australia and expanding into the UK and Europe throughout 2024–25. International touring included dates across the UK and Europe supporting The Cat Empire, introducing overseas audiences to the band’s rhythm-led songwriting and live performance approach. The band will return internationally this year supporting The Terrys (dates below).

Written across multiple sessions before reuniting with longtime collaborator Dave Parkin at Blackbird Sound Studio in Perth, ‘Run It Back’ reflects a deliberate shift in approach. After several years on the road, the band entered the sessions intending to move beyond the framework of their debut and write more instinctively as a group.

“We came into this record at a completely different point in our lives and weren’t afraid to take risks. Touring had a huge impact on the writing — being in different countries gives you a new perspective and the songs started to come more naturally once we trusted that.”
— South Summit, 2026

The album focuses on performance and feel rather than construction, with the band prioritising playing together in the room and capturing songs as they would be performed live.

On The Dash’ serves as the first introduction to ‘Run It Back’, representing the record’s immediacy and accessibility. The band see the album as a step outward beyond their domestic audience: “We wanted these songs to connect with people wherever they hear them. The idea was to make something that could reach different listeners without losing who we are as a band.

Across its 12 tracks, Run It Back draws on time spent travelling and living between tours, with themes shaped by distance, relationships and the adjustments that come with a life increasingly spent away from home.

Since their debut, South Summit have toured extensively across Australia, appeared at major festivals including Falls Festival and Groovin The Moo, and received consistent national radio support from triple j, who nominated the group for Unearthed Artist of the Year at the 2023 J Awards. The band have also toured New Zealand and Europe, with further international touring planned throughout 2026.
