‘Sick, Sick World’, new single for Hunch Power

After listening to Hunch Power’s new single, ‘Sick, Sick, World’, I feel as though I should make more effort to be more environmentally conscious. Not only is the new song thought-provoking and emotive, but it is also very catchy.
I like the use of see-saw guitar riffs in the intro, about ten seconds in. The lyrics sound to me sort of like a letter to the world to re-evaluate their choices. Lines like “it’s a toxic world, I keep holding my breath, but it’s not only about the air” are hard-hitting and powerful. The song is about serious topics but with light-hearted melodies. The music video itself shows a collage of imagery relating to the ongoing issues of the world, particularly the climate crisis and pollution.
Onto Frontman, Harvey Springfield, and his personal musical journey. I watched the rockumentary titled ‘Follow Your Hunches’ and felt really immersed in his life. He’s good at portraying his story and is clearly a talented, resourceful and resilient individual. Influenced by his father and mother, who both shared a love for music, Harvey has pursued a number of musical adventures despite difficulties and hardship.
I found it interesting that Harvey was able to participate and create DIY communities within London and Nottingham. Although this is not where he was originally from. This definitely shows his defiance and strength of character to hold the ability to build collaborations with fellow musical travellers.
I would recommend the short film to anyone looking for motivation or interested in the history behind the development of Hunch Power. You can see the rockumentary at Lumiere Cinema in Romford on the 12th September 2026. Alongside a Q&A with the band!
