Speaking about the single, Nyrobi explains:We wrote this song because the level of violence and injustice we are witnessing feels so disorientating. The chaos and turmoil has an impact on all of us and we have to ask what have we become as a people? 'Silhouettes In The Mirror' shows how this exposure shapes us and how it leads us to see distorted reflections of ourselves because of the impact of a distorted world

The EP marks ALT BLK ERA’s first project since their breakout debut album ‘Rave Immortal, which debuted at No.1 on the Official UK Rock & Metal Chart and earned the duo a MOBO Award for Best Alternative Music Act, and saw the paid make standout appearances including Later… With Jools Holland, establishing the Nottingham sisters as one of the UK’s most exciting alternative acts.

With ‘Our World’, sisters Nyrobi (21) and Chaya (18) Beckett-Messam continue their rapid rise, delivering a confident and fully realised body of work that fans have been eagerly awaiting. Across the EP, the duo expand on the explosive blend of rock, pop and EDM that has become synonymous with ALT BLK ERA, pushing their sound further while retaining the raw energy and sharp songwriting that first set them apart.

Talk about the EP, the pair explain:
Chaya
: "We’re excited about the ‘Our World’ EP. It tells the story of our feelings in this moment, when there are so many shocking and devastating world events. The first tracks reflect our struggle to process the overwhelm: 'Tissues' explores sadness and grief, while 'Lost In The Back Of My Mind' captures the desire to escape reality. 'Silhouettes In The Mirror' confronts our new identities in this world, and 'Okay (Cyber Racing)' expresses our need to feel joy, even if just for a moment so we can leave our worries behind.”

Nyrobi: “Yeah - Okay (Cyber Racing)’ is our reaction to the overwhelming grief and chaos we’re facing. It reflects that moment when you just want to escape, becoming reckless out of fear that we’re watching the world as it’s actually ending. It’s not a positive space because it explores how we cope and how the need to feel anything in a world that feels like it’s so broken.

However, we do bring it back! Our title track, ‘Our World,’ is particularly meaningful because it emphasises that beauty still exists. We want to highlight the significance of simple joys and acts of love as forms of resistance. This EP takes listeners from feelings of helplessness to a place of hope, reminding us that small acts of kindness truly matter. We believe that finding joy amidst chaos is not a betrayal and that it is essential for maintaining our humanity. The 'Our World' EP is about good people reclaiming this world for ourselves.

We’re really happy that we got explore more of the Rock and EDM sounds in this EP. Rock music is so, so versatile and it brings so much weight to other genres. We feel like we’re just getting started and love the moods that we’ve created.”

Songwriters, producers, and the creative visionaries behind both their music and visual world, Nyrobi and Chaya have built a reputation for crafting something greater than the sum of its influences. Characterised by heavy basslines, distorted guitars, punchy electronic production and vivid storytelling, their music is driven by the powerful contrast between their yin-and-yang vocal styles.

Beyond their music, ALT BLK ERA are passionate advocates for hidden disability awareness and inclusivity in the music industry. Nyrobi, who lives with ME/CFS, is working closely with BBC Introducing to help provide safe backstage spaces for artists with disabilities at festivals - a mission inspired by her personal journey and one that continues to inform the duo’s creative world.
