A night of pure ‘delirium’ in Clwb Ifor Bach

On Saturday night, the Luxembourgian band Francis of Delirium performed what they described as their "second and a half" show at Clwb Ifor Bach in Cardiff.
They kicked off the night with the track ‘Aliens’, setting an engaging tone with their emotionally charged indie rock sound. Their music drew from a variety of influences, including 90s-inspired indie rock and elements reminiscent of Stevie Nicks, particularly in the song ‘Higher’. The performances were captivating and deeply personal, exploring profound emotional themes in songs like ‘Real Love’ and ‘Run, Run Pure Beauty’, which touched on philosophical themes.
The live show was a standout experience, highlighting the band's vibrant personality. Their on-stage chemistry and interactions with the audience created a welcoming atmosphere. At one point, Janna, the lead singer, and bassist Jeff shared that after performances, they compare the energy on different sides of the crowd. They discovered it was more effective to tell the audience they were divided down the middle during their performance of ‘The Funhouse’. The energy was electric; both sides of the audience were fully engaged, dancing and clapping along. Janna and Jeff even joined the crowd, at one moment screaming with them and leading chants for Team Jeff. I may be biased, but I believe Team Jeff emerged victorious!
They concluded the evening with ‘First Touch’ and ‘Damned’, wrapping up a very enjoyable set that seemed to fly by. I would have loved to hear more, but that only gives me an excuse to see them live again, which I would happily do. I highly recommend you do the same!
